New Rochelle is a home to Glen Island Park and surrounding island
summer resorts. Vacationers love the park and islands that include a
theme park, a beach front for swimming, a natural history museum, a
German beer garden and castle, lots of musical entertainment and a
Chinese pagoda. These amenities make for a fun, relaxing or energizing
vacation or weekend get-a-way.
Glen Island Park is a public recreational park, owned by Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation. A private management company was secured to manage the park, hire the employees, and handle security. Since the 1920's the park has been connected to Rochelle, New York with a draw-bridge making access convenient for visitors. Glen Island Park is a favorite spot to visit for the whole family because there is so much to do and enjoy. There are magnificent waterfront views, children's playgrounds and picnicking facilities that include covered pavilions and the safe beach area. The Glen Island Park has sponsored several festivals, weddings and banquets because the sculptured landscaped grounds, flowers and scrubs are absolutely beautiful and make for a perfect place to hold and event.
One of the most beautiful, scenic places for camping is Glen Island Park; with campsite waterfronts that have views of the hills from across the water. The trees come alive in autumn when the tree leaves begin to change colors creating a breathtaking view from campsites, or day visitors to the park. The campsites themselves are private and the quiet and relaxing atmosphere soothes the body. Since the campsites are only reached by boat access, there are less interruptions or noise in or near the campsites. No generators to contend with or vehicle traffic pulling RV's in and out of the campsites.
Glen Island Park has been described by some visitors as a "Haven on the Sound!"
